CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: CHILE

As COVID-19 continues to spread around the world, many contracting hotspots are taking action in order to prevent and mitigate the effects of the virus. Here is the latest information from Chile, as of 20th March 2020.

Chile: What do you need to know?

The Chilean President has announced new measures taken by the government regarding the advance of COVID-19 in Chile, and decreed a ‘State of Exception Constitutional by Catastrophe’, which will start from 00:00 hrs on Thursday 19th 2020 for a period of 90 days.

This measure will allow the Government to actions such as the restriction of meetings in public spaces, ensure the distribution of basic goods and services, establish quarantines or curfew and limit the transit or movement of the citizens.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has also announced that from today that they won´t stamp visas in the worldwide network of Consulates until further notice.
